Perth Cats News: Round 1 vs Freo

Hi Cats Fans,

Well a very long pre-season is now done following our spirited second half comeback against the Dons in Bendigo. We can never really take too much from these kick arounds but there was plenty of good, bad and ugly on display. Let’s just get to the real stuff now!

TICKETS CURRENTLY SOLD OUT FOR DOCKERS GAME – SUNDAY, MARCH 26

As per usual tickets for the Round One game against the Dockers at Subiaco Oval have sold out very quickly.

If you missed out then don’t despair, as we can get you onto our waiting list in case we get more tickets – although we can’t guarantee anything. THE PRE-GAME FUNCTION – 1pm SUNDAY MARCH 26 @ THE IRISH CLUB

Once again we’ll be back downstairs at the Irish Club (just a 5 minute walk to Subi oval) for both pre-game functions this year. Our Round one game against the Dockers is on a Sunday arvo – so it should be a biggy!

A special guest from Geelong’s illustrious past should be joining us (we will announce this in the coming week) and we’ll have a big raffle with some wonderful prizes. This year’s prizes include signed Cats’ gear and cherished memorabilia that you will be the pride of your pool room! We are talking with the club about a question and answer opportunity in which fans’ questions will be put to the players; recorded onto DVD and replayed at the pre-game function – hopefully more details on that in the next week or so.

There will also be something for the kids, including a handball comp, face painting and other great activities.

There is no need to book, just turn up! Entry will only cost a gold coin donation (all funds going to the Geelong Cats); which includes a ticket in the fantastic door prize. Last year at the Irish Club was a blast, so let’s make this a big catch up and celebration for WA Geelong Cats’ supporters once again.

NO OPEN TRAINING SESSIONS IN PERTH

At this stage the Geelong Cats’ Football Department has unfortunately made the decision to not have any open training sessions when playing outside of Victoria this season.

Winning the game is the priority and while many fans will be disappointed with this decision – it denies young Cats fans the chance to meet their heroes and for the club to expand their impact in WA; however we must respect the club’s decision.

After the final siren in Round 1, the players will come up to the fence behind the goals at the City end of the ground to thank the fans. If the Cats’ cheer squad again need a hand with the banner; we will let you know ASAP.
