Geelong Cats vs Richmond – 2nd Qualifying Final, Friday 8 September 2017

Cats vs Tigers

Hi Cats Fans,

After 22 matches, some stupid jumper punches, crucial goals, hard ball gets and many other high or lowlights we finally come to the 2017 finals campaign.

It seems like forever since we easily did away with the Giants down at the Cattery to seal second place for the second year in a row. Menegola, Duncan and Dangerfield were all once again brilliant in the middle. But that all means nothing now with our first final against Richmond this Friday.

If you believe the press Richmond have a team even better than their 1967-74 team – such is the hype. With all the reasons (and there are many) to mock the Tigers, it’s going to be a very tight game against a very good team. The crowd will be on their side, Dusty re-signing may inspire and they absolutely love the G. The loser is likely to face the Swans the week after, so it’s imperative the Cats get a victory here. At this stage it looks like our captain will be back; not wanting to miss Danger’s 200th for anything.

We’ll be in the Courtside Room (the big room) for the game from 5:30. If anyone was there for the finals last season you’ll know the atmosphere will be electric with the big crowd in attendance and the huge screen. The usual drink discounts will be available. If you don’t have a drinks discount pass then see a committee member. We also have a Facebook event too. Check it out and invite fellow Cats for the game:

And finally, huge congratulations to Darren Wallace of Kalgoorlie for winning this season’s big raffle, which was a framed guernsey signed by the entire 2017 squad. Hopefully it will be worth a hell of a lot more in around a month’s time after the Grand Final.
