Geelong Cats vs Melbourne – Round 23 – Simonds Stadium – Saturday 27 August 2016

Hi Cats Fans,

Well, a very decent win last week against the Lions up at the Gabba; with the second quarter an obvious exception. Motlop kicked five showing what he can do albeit against a struggling side. WA product Sam Menegola was probably BOG with another fantastic effort, while they tried to slap around our captain but soon learned that’s a little futile. The only downside was Hendo’s knee injury but hopefully he’ll be back for week one of the finals.

It’s a big one on Saturday when we take on the resurgent Demons down at Kardinia Park. The Dees can’t make the 8 but it’s Paul Roos’ last game as coach, so they’ll still have fire in the belly and did win in Geelong last year to ruin Boris’ 300th game. One plus is with Adelaide playing the night before we’ll know exactly what we’ll need to do to nab second spot if possible, so it could be a nervy few hours.

We’ll be at The Game Sports Bar in front of the big screen for this pivotal clash. As this is the last game of the Home and Away season we’ll be drawing the winner of our season-long raffle for a framed Geelong guernsey, signed by every player in the 2016 Geelong side. A genuine collector’s item! If you haven’t got a ticket in the raffle you can still purchase some on Saturday, as we’ll be doing the draw at half time in the match.

We hope to see you down there as we march towards the finals.
