Essendon vs Geelong Cats – Round 8 – MCG – Saturday 13 May 2017

Bombers vs Cats
Hi Cats Fans,

The less said about last week the better; with that pedestrian, mediocre effort. Players not putting their head over the ball, static defence, poor execution and whatever else you want to throw in; as we lose two on the trot just like this time last season. Frustrating doesn’t even begin to describe it.

We move on to this week and the country clash with the Bombers at the MCG. We’ll be getting the Dons after they travelled west last week, which helps; but they have named their game winners and stars along with a rested Jobe Watson, so we’ll have to find our best again. This will also be the 300th game for Cats’ legend James ‘Pops’ Kelly. Who would have thought he would go on to win three flags and play 300 games with two different clubs after most of us saw him break his leg at Subi in 2004?

The Perth Cats will be at The Game Sports Bar again from 5.25 in the big room watching the clash with the WA Bombers, so bring your Dons’ supporting mates down to watch the game. There’s the usual 20% discounts for drinks, but unfortunately you now have to go next door to order and bring back your Varsity Burgers, as they are no longer operating out of the pub. Don’t fret though, as The Game’s new kitchen will up and running very soon, giving more options and more convenience.

Don’t forget Geelong legend Sam Newman will be appearing at The Game next Friday right after our huge clash with the Bulldogs at Simonds Stadium. Congratulations to those who ‘liked’ our Facebook page and scored double passes, we will be in touch soon to let you know how to pick them up. For more info on the event and tickets then head to for more info.

Thanks to those who have inquired about tickets to the Eagles game at Subi in June too. We’ll provide ticketing information as soon as we hear from the club about what is happening.
